Life in the West: People, Land, Water and Wildlife in a Changing Economy

Saturday, May 1, 2010
Jordan Ballroom, Student Union
Boise State University

The history of the West – the history of Idaho – is a story of change. One hundred years ago, the challenge in the West was to tame the frontier. Now, we face new challenges focused on balancing and accommodating millions of people who impact the land, water and wildlife.

The nation’s two premier land managers – the Director of the Bureau of Land Management and the Chief of the U.S. Forest Service – were in Boise, Idaho on Saturday, May 1st, 2010 to keynote this Andrus Center conference.

Panels focused on practical and successful approaches to collaboration that balance the growing Western economy with the traditional values that continue to make the West unique. The conference focused on a future-looking agenda for Idaho.

Convened by: The Andrus Center for Public Policy

Sponsored by: The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation & The Idaho Statesman

The Conference was supported by a generous grant from: The Brainerd Foundation

And the assistance of: The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation
