SECURING THE FUTURE:
Solutions Beyond Politics for Social Security and Medicare
Senator Alan K. Simpson
December 6, 1996
Boise State University
Boise, Idaho

In December of 1998, the Andrus Center, in partnership with the City Club of Boise, had the rare opportunity to bring Senator Alan Simpson, then chairman of the Senate Subcommittee on Social Security and Family Policy, to Boise to share his knowledge of the problems facing Social Security and Medicare and to suggest solutions. 1300 Idahoans packed the Student Union at Boise State University to hear his remarks, and, as always, Senator Simpson told it as he saw it and spared no one. The problems of Social Security and Medicare remain unresolved, but his insights, foresight, and recommendations are still right on target. The printed text of his speech is available from the Andrus Center or click the link below to download a .pdf version.
